⚠️ This draft was prepared for legal review. Have a licensed attorney review before publishing.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the CourseLogic application and website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CourseLogic ("we," "our," or "us"). We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, with notice provided as described in Section 15.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use CourseLogic. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 13 years of age (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction);
- If you are between 13 and 18, you have obtained parental or guardian consent;
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
- Your use of the Service does not violate any applicable law or regulation.
CourseLogic is designed for college and university students. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Account Registration
3.1 Creating an Account
To use most features of CourseLogic, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate;
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with others;
- Notify us immediately at [support@courselogic.com] if you believe your account has been compromised;
- Be solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3.2 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, without prior notice, where required by law, or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time in Settings → Account.
4. Subscription Plans and Payments
4.1 Free Tier
CourseLogic offers a free tier with limited features as described in the app. Free tier features may change at any time with reasonable notice.
4.2 Premium Subscription
Premium features require a paid subscription. Current pricing tiers are:
- Student Plan ($24.99/month): Available to users with a verified active .edu email address. Requires annual re-verification to maintain student pricing. Failure to re-verify within 30 days of the annual deadline results in automatic migration to the Premium Plan at the next renewal cycle, with advance notice provided.
- Premium Plan ($39.99/month): Full monthly price with no .edu verification required. Includes priority support and beta feature access.
Pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected).
4.3 Free Trial
All new CourseLogic accounts receive a 14-day free trial of premium features upon registration. No credit card or payment information is required to begin the trial.
-
The trial begins on the date your account is created and runs for 14 consecutive calendar days regardless of app usage.
-
During the trial, premium features are unlocked subject to per-trial generation caps designed to let you fully evaluate the product without enabling pre-loading of an entire semester's worth of artifacts. The caps apply to the trial in total (not per-day or per-week):
Action Trial cap Active courses 1 Smart Notes generated 5 Flashcards generated 150 Quiz Mode runs 3 Exam Mode simulations 1 PDF exports 2 AI Tutor messages 40 -
PDF exports during the trial period include a small CourseLogic footer noting trial status. Upgrades produce clean exports.
-
At the end of the trial period, your account automatically reverts to the free tier unless you have selected and activated a paid subscription plan. All previously generated content (Smart Notes, flashcards, quiz history) remains accessible after trial expiry.
-
The free trial is available once per email address and once per primary
.edudomain. Creating additional accounts to extend trial access is a violation of these Terms and may result in account termination. -
You will receive reminder notifications at 7 days and 2 days before your trial expires.
-
We will never charge you as a result of the free trial. No payment method is collected during the trial period.
4.4 Billing and Renewals
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
- You must cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.
- For subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play, billing is managed by Apple or Google, and their terms apply.
4.5 Subscription Downgrade and Data Retention
When a paid subscription ends — whether at trial expiration, cancellation, or non-renewal — your account reverts to the free tier. The following applies:
- Your data is not deleted. All courses, flashcards, notes, quiz questions, study schedules, and uploaded files are retained in full.
- Content access is preserved. You may continue to read, review, and practice with all study materials generated during your premium period.
- Generation features are paused. The ability to generate new AI content, upload additional file types, access the AI Tutor, and export documents requires an active paid subscription.
- Multiple courses: The free tier supports up to four (4) active courses. If your account contains more than four courses at the time of downgrade, your four most recently active courses remain active and the remainder enter a read-only state — fully accessible for review but not editable or refreshable.
- Resubscription: Reactivating a paid subscription immediately restores full premium access to all features and courses. No data needs to be rebuilt.
- Inactive accounts: Free tier accounts with no login activity for 12 consecutive months will be notified and may be archived. Uploaded files are retained for up to 15 months from last login before permanent deletion.
4.6 Refunds
- Monthly subscriptions: No refunds for partial months.
- Annual subscriptions: Refund requests within 14 days of initial purchase or annual renewal may be considered at our discretion.
- Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google are subject to their respective refund policies.
4.7 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of price increases. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

We expressly disclaim any responsibility for academic integrity violations arising from your use of the Service.

8.1 Accuracy Disclaimer
CourseLogic uses artificial intelligence to generate study materials including flashcards, notes, summaries, quizzes, and tutor responses. AI-generated content:
- May contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions;
- Should be used as a study aid, not as a substitute for attending class, reading assigned materials, or consulting authoritative sources;
- Is generated based on your uploaded materials and may not reflect the most current academic knowledge.
You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated content against your course materials.
8.2 No Academic Guarantee
CourseLogic does not guarantee any particular academic outcome, grade improvement, or exam result. Study outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.
9. Affiliate Links and Textbook Sourcing

We do not endorse any particular retailer and are not responsible for the terms, pricing, or availability of products on third-party websites.

10.3 Generated Content
AI-generated study materials (flashcards, notes, summaries, etc.) created using your uploaded course materials are provided to you for your personal educational use. You may export, print, and share these materials for non-commercial educational purposes.
11. Third-Party Services
CourseLogic integrates with third-party services including Anthropic (AI), OpenAI (embeddings), Supabase (database), LlamaParse (document extraction), Stripe (payments), and Vercel (hosting). Your use of these services through CourseLogic is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service outages, changes, or discontinuations.

Class action waiver: You agree to resolve disputes only on an individual basis and waive the right to participate in any class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' notice via email and/or a prominent in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
